1st Financial Bank USA wants to celebrate those who recognize the importance of pursuing educational and financial goals with the 1st Financial Bank USA Financial Goals Scholarship.
The Korean War Veteran's Children's Scholarship was created in 2012 by Mr. Chong Kim, who was a child in Korea during the Korean War and is thankful to have survived those difficult times. Mr. Kim migrated to America in 1972 and served in the U.S. Air Force and federal government for many years until he retired. He created this scholarship as a way to honor the men and women who serve our country by providing educational opportunities for their descendants. The donor requires applicants to be a direct descendant of a Korean War veteran or a direct descendant of a soldier who served in a foreign war and provide appropriate documentation. Preference, in order of priority, will be given to direct descendants of Korean War veterans who died in combat; direct descendants of veterans who served during the Korean War; direct descendants of veterans who either died or served in a foreign war; students who have demonstrated community service; and recipients who were awarded in the immediate prior year if such recipient continues to meet the eligibility requirements and is in good academic standing. Please visit the scholarship's website or contact the Hawai'i Community Foundation for more information.
