The Department of Energy Computational Science Graduate Fellowship provides outstanding benefits and opportunities to students pursuing doctoral degrees in fields that use high-performance computing to solve complex science and engineering problems. Students may apply in two different tracks. The Science & Engineering Track where fellows use math and computers to conduct doctoral research in many fields, including: Aeronautics, Astrophysics, Biological Sciences, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Electrical Engineering, Environmental Science, Materials Sciences, Mechanical Engineering, and Physics. Students applying to the Mathematics/Computer Science (Math/CS) Track must be pursuing a doctoral degree in applied mathematics, statistics, computer science, computer engineering or computational science, in one of these departments or their academic equivalent. The DOE CSGF is open to U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents who plan full-time, uninterrupted study toward a Ph.D. at an accredited U.S. university. Eligibility will be extended to undergraduate seniors and current master's degree students who must enroll at a different institution for Ph.D. studies to begin the fall term coincident with the start of DOE CSGF funding. Applicants must generate their own POS with their graduate advisor's assistance. Senior undergraduates and others matriculating into graduate school: If a graduate advisor at your preferred institution is unavailable or unable to review your POS, we recommend asking your current (or most recent) advisor to help you generate this course plan. Applicants must list three individuals who can speak to their character, qualifications and accomplishments in the context of the DOE CSGF application. Please visit the fellowship's website for more information.
