Salisbury State University, founded in 1925, is a public university. It is a rarity among public institutions in Maryland: All four of its schools are endowed. These multimillion-dollar gifts have expanded scholarships and other opportunities for students. With an emphasis on active learning, including undergraduate research, internships, community service and travel abroad, SSU is earning a national reputation for educating undergraduates. This year, U.S. News & World Report ranked Salisbury State among the top ten regional public schools in the north. Its 140-acre campus is located in Salisbury, 100 miles southeast of Baltimore and Washington, DC.
